Critical infrastructure unions join forces: a new format for cooperation and joint decisions

On April 2, a joint event took place in Kyiv working meeting, which brought together trade unions from key sectors of critical infrastructure—rail, maritime, and nuclear. The Federation of Transport Trade Unions of Ukraine co-organized the event. The discussion was moderated by Oleksandr SHUBIN, General Secretary FTTU, and Pavlo Prudnikov, Deputy Chairman of the Nuclear Workers’ Union.

The focus is on strengthening cooperation between

The discussion focused on practical issues related to trade union activities and new forms of advocacy work. Trade union leaders Oleksiy SEMERUN’, Oleg GRYGORIUK and Valeriy MATOV discussed cooperation in the context of labor law reform, participation in legislative activities, strengthening the protection of workers’ rights, the development of modern support services, and the expansion of cooperation between youth organizations.

Each participant presented social and healthcare initiatives, including health insurance and healthcare programs available to union members in their respective industries.

A significant part of the event is dedicated to the joint development of youth policy, creating opportunities for youth projects, mobilizing resources, developing educational programs, and expanding youth participation in career guidance projects.

The key outcome of the meeting was the signing of a cooperation agreement between the three trade unions. The document provides for enhanced coordination of efforts, the exchange of experiences and best practices, as well as the joint development of solutions to effectively protect critical infrastructure workers.

The parties also outlined the first joint steps and measures. The agreement remains open to like-minded partners and is intended to give new impetus to the development of effective trade union protection.
